Many articles talk of the advantages of nano materials, structural, environmental, energy efficiencies and the like. All the producers brag about the advantages that they provide. Most alarmingly they also say someone will find a means of recycling, reusing or recapturing the nano particles and then plunge ahead business as usual.
Who will cause a change of this attitude? Research needs to be done but the manufacturers of nano materials want no part of this--- someone else will do it.
We need 10% of the research money spent on nano materials devoted to looking at the dangers of nano products and how to prevent their impacts on the environment and people.
There is talk of nano products being used to reduce polution but the nano products become a polutant when then have achieved their goal. There is no talk of this---yet.
I believe that nano products will help solve many environmental problems but work must be done to prevent nano polution.
